Prom Night Exotic Car Rentals: What Parents Should Know

September 18, 2026 · 6 min read · Axel Luxury

Every spring we get the same call from parents: my kid wants to show up to prom in a Lamborghini — is that something you do, and is it a terrible idea? The answer to the first part is yes. The answer to the second part depends entirely on how it's arranged, so let's be direct about the requirements before talking about cars.

The honest part: your teenager is not driving it

Renting any vehicle from our fleet requires a valid driver's license and full coverage comprehensive/collision car insurance in the renter's name, plus a refundable security deposit — $2,000 on the exotic tier. A high-school senior on a provisional license, with no policy of their own, does not meet that standard, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

That leaves two arrangements that actually work:

  1. 01A parent rents and drives. You meet the license, insurance, and deposit requirements, you drive to the venue, and your teenager gets the arrival without ever being behind the wheel of a 600-horsepower car on the busiest driving night of the school year.
  2. 02You book chauffeur service. A professional drives the whole evening — pickup, photos, venue, after-party, home. Nobody in the group drives, which is the single biggest safety decision available to you on prom night.

Most parents who call end up choosing chauffeur service once they hear it's an option. It removes the driving question entirely and the arrival looks exactly the same in the photos.

Cars that are actually popular for prom

Vehicle24-hour rateWhy it gets requested
Lamborghini Urus$1,200Lamborghini badge, four real seats — a couple plus friends fit
Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge$1,500Starlight headliner and rear executive seating photograph extremely well
Corvette C8 Stingray$550Mid-engine supercar looks at the most sensible price in the fleet
Mercedes-Benz AMG G63$800Instantly recognizable, tall and easy to get in and out of in formalwear
Cadillac Escalade$600The group option — the whole friend group travels together

The Corvette at $550 with a $1,000 deposit is worth flagging for anyone weighing cost against effect. For a fraction of Lamborghini money, it's a mid-engine two-seater that photographs like a supercar — and teenagers genuinely rate it.

Practical details for the night

  • Rentals are 24-hour periods, which comfortably covers photos in the afternoon through the drive home.
  • The car arrives detailed and fueled, with a walkthrough at handover — plan for delivery before the photo session, not after.
  • Dresses and low supercars are a genuine problem. If the dress is long, the Urus, G63, Cullinan or Escalade will make the evening easier than a Huracán.
  • Prom weekends in April and May book out early. Reserve as soon as the date is set.
  • We deliver across Chicago and the suburbs — including Naperville, Hinsdale and Highland Park.

If you want to talk it through — including whether chauffeur service makes more sense for your evening — call or text (312) 724-7883. You can see every car and every rate on the fleet page.
